MEDA’s Ernesto Martinez Chosen for NALCAB Colegio Fellowship
Program fosters next generation of Latino leaders

San Francisco, Calif. — The National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB) just announced that Integrated Services Manager Ernesto Martinez of the Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) has been named a 2018 NALCAB Colegio Community Economic Development Fellow.

NALCAB’s mission is fulfilled in part via its Colegio Community Economic Development Fellowship Program (NALCAB Colegio). NALCAB is the only national organization that has developed culturally relevant curricula and training methods specifically aimed at building the capacity of Latino-serving community development and asset-building practitioners. This innovative program was developed to ensure that next-generation Latino leaders build the practical, personal and professional skills needed to fill the increasing leadership gap in the community economic development field. The curriculum is specifically designed to help practitioners become more effective leaders through leadership development, technical training and the facilitation of peer networks.

“It is an honor to join the 2018 NALCAB Colegio cohort. I am excited to learn from other Latino leaders in economic and community building throughout the nation and bring back these lessons and resources for our Latino and Mission communities.” explained Martinez of the honor he has been bestowed.

Established in 2010, the NALCAB Colegio has already graduated 83 Latino leaders from 61 nonprofit organizations in 22 states and the District of Columbia. In addition to joining a diverse national network of Latino leaders, NALCAB Colegio graduates have meaningfully contributed to their organizations and their field, including taking on executive leadership positions.
