Libardo Clavijo Joins MEDA as Chief Financial Officer
Taking the helm to streamline MEDA’s accounting processes for a scaling organization

San Francisco — The Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) has announced that Libardo Calvijo has joined the 45-year-old organization as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

As the new CFO, he will be tasked with spearheading MEDA’s financial operations. Such a high-level position is now needed, as the organization has pivoted from being a direct-services provider to adding: the Mission Promise Neighborhood, as lead agency for this community anti-poverty education initiative; an affordable-housing program, with over 1,000 units preserved or produced in just four years; and the Fondo Adelante Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that fosters community development by lending to small businesses and, soon, for real estate transactions.

Clavijo is MBA-educated professional offering a rich career with over 13 years of experience — and a track record of accomplishment in finance and administration.

States MEDA Chief Executive Officer Luis Granados of this staff addition, “Libardo Clavijo has the background to tackle the challenge of leading the finance team for our organization, which has grown exponentially in just a few years. MEDA looks forward to his stewardship of our accounting practices as we move forward.”

Explains Clavijo on why he accepted this role, “I am excited to be part of a nonprofit that serves the Latino and immigrant community. I know that I can leverage my career skills to ensure MEDA remains a strong and healthy organization for years to come as its work expands. These are exciting times at MEDA, and I am proud to now be part of that evolution.”

Most recently, Clavijo served as Director of Finance and Administration at Womankind, Rising Above Violence in New York City. Prior to that, Clavijo was Financial Controller at Accion East. He has a master’s from Eastern University.

Clavijo assumes his new role on June 26, 2018.
