You’ve most likely seen plenty of cranes flying high over San Francisco’s Mission Bay … and we don’t mean birds, we mean construction cranes. Actually, there are also plenty of seabirds in this bayfront area, with most circling AT&T Park for some snacks after the game is over.
San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood is hot, offering a transit-rich community with an enviable urban lifestyle that is attracting newcomers every day. That’s why the opening of Five 88 this February will be a rare chance for 198 families to live in a below-market-rate (BMR) apartment rental at 588 Mission Bay Boulevard North.
The 70 brand-new one-bedroom apartments will rent for $1,090 to $1,320 per month. Maximum allowable income range is $26,160 to $66,420, depending on household size. Maximum family size is three persons.
For the 128 two-bedroom units, rent will be $1,299 to $1,576 per month. Maximum allowable income range is $31,176 to $79,740, depending on household size. Maximum family size is five persons.
BMR apartments range from 473 to 914 square feet. There are fully equipped kitchens, window coverings, some paid utilities and garage parking. There are also spectacular views.
On-site amenities include a fitness center, bicycle storage, laundry and lounge. The grounds include a picnic area with a barbecue to use in what is one of the sunniest neighborhoods of San Francisco.
MEDA’s Housing Opportunities team is available for those interested in receiving free assistance filling out the application. You can stop by Plaza Adelante as a walk-in client from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays or you can call for an appointment for Mondays to Thursdays. Be sure to stop by Plaza Adelante before the deadline of 5 p.m. on Dec. 21.
Explains Program Manager Juan Diego Castro, “MEDA’s bilingual staff is here to help. We are very excited to see these 198 BMR rentals coming on the market, so we want to help our clients get into the lottery.”
