MEDA August 2014 Volunteer of the Month: Ann Hess, Technology Center

Volunteer SliderEach month, the Mission Economic Development Agency honors one of its dedicated volunteers—the people who are an integral part of MEDA’s ability to provide free services to low- and moderate-income Bay Area residents. Thanks to all of the selfless MEDA volunteers who choose Plaza Adelante as their second home.

Ann HessName: Ann Hess
Program: Technology Center, (Workforce Development)

Why did you decide to volunteer with MEDA?
I have been living in the Mission on and off since 1993 and really admire what MEDA does for the community.

What projects have you worked on as a volunteer?
I help in the free Basic Digital Literacy classes, work with clients one-on-one tutoring them and also help with administrative projects.

What do you like best about volunteering at MEDA?
The people: MEDA employees, as well as clients.

What have you learned from your volunteer experience?
Teaching someone how to use a mouse is harder than teaching them how to build a website!

Tell us something we may not know about you. Any interesting facts you’d like to share about your life?
I enjoy freighter travel and my life partner is a dog named Batmanuel.
