Your Career Opportunity

As a Project Assistant, you will be a part of a fast-paced, dynamic organization that is changing the face of the Mission District in San Francisco by developing and project managing components of the affordable housing and commercial real estate portfolio. The diverse portfolio will include occupied-rehabilitation of multi-family and small buildings, new construction as well as commercial buildings. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Assistant will be expected to be a contributing member of the team to develop properties to meet organizational objectives for asset building, sustainability, community and economic development.

This work will be challenging and fun as you work with our talented staff. Successful candidates will bring their superb organizational skills and collaborative nature to the work along with their desire to make San Francisco a better place for families of all backgrounds.

Specifically, you will:

  • Assemble and compile documents to assist with real estate development process as part of project team: Evaluation of potential development sites and feasibility analyses related to property acquisitions. Preparation and filing of documents to facilitate escrow closings. Project approvals from planning and building departments and other regulatory agencies. general contractor bidding
  • Track Project schedule in Smartsheets and Excel. Maintain project checklists to monitor timely completion of tasks
  • Assist with project financing by inputting income and expense information for developing financial feasibilities for projects and compiling invoices for vendor payments
  • Contact and maintain relationship tracking for tenant outreach and public relations work as needed, including attending community meetings

Your Keys to Success

To perform successfully in this role, you will need to leverage these key qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience work experience with Associate degree OR Associate degree and 6-12 months’ of affordable housing experience.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including board members, public sector staff and officials, representatives of other nonprofit organizations, vendors, and people from low-income households.
  • Commitment to green-building and sustainable policies and practices.
  • Commitment to providing long-term affordable housing and to the concept of organizing low-income people to stabilize communities and create social change.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • High degree of independence, initiative, responsibility, and accountability as well as capability in a team environment.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, risks and problems and to act proactively.
  • Must be able to travel to community or resident locations within a 10 mile radius of the work.
  • Willingness and ability to attend occasional evening and weekend meetings and events.
  • Strong proficiency in using Excel, Google Suites, Google+, and Dropbox
  • Lived experience with low-income Latino, immigrant communities preferred.
