What do you love about the Mission District and MEDA?
"I love the Mission District because it is home: I grew up in the Mission District and I love being part of MEDA’s initiatives in preserving the culture, community and neighborhood through the Small Sites Program."

Emmanuel Zuniga was born in Managua, Nicaragua and Immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 2. Upon arriving in the U.S., his family settled in San Francisco’s Mission District. Emmanuel was a youth participant at community organizations within the Mission District which helped prepare him for a community-based career. He has over 17 years of experience in Affordable Housing Property Management with different nonprofit organizations. He has managed multi-family properties that include SRO, Family, TAY units, seniors' housing and more. Emmanuel holds the following industry certifications from the National Center for Housing Managers: Tax Credit Specialist; Certified Occupancy Specialist; Certified Manager of Housing; Certified Manager of Maintenance; and Certified Financial Specialist. Emmanuel holds an industry designation as an Accredited Residential Manager from the Institute of Real Estate Management and an industry designation of a Registered Housing Manager from the National Center for Housing Managers.

Emmanuel is passionate about preserving and developing affordable housing. He has collaborated in rehabbing multi-family properties in the Tenderloin District and looks forward to continuing his work in the Mission District.

What do you love about the Mission District and MEDA?
"What I love most about the Mission District is the diversity. The Mission has a special place in my heart because it is where I grew up. I love that MEDA supports the Latino community with great resources, services and education."

Luis Cruz is a first-generation immigrant born is Guerrero, Mexico who came to San Francisco since 2003. He attended San Francisco City College, where he studied Fashion Merchandising. Although he loves fashion, he has been working in office administration for about two years. He is currently supporting the Community Real Estate team to learn more about real estate.

Luis loves to travel and learn about different cultures. On his days off, he enjoys spending time with his dog, Marley, at Dolores Park.
