21. Recompensa: al final del camino / Recompense: at the end of the road
After three years we have achieved stable housing for the family. There was a lot of support to reach the end of the road and continue fighting – from therapies and support groups, to overcoming the consequences of domestic violence and taking classes to improve my relationship with my children. To have a stable apartment in which to live after becoming accustomed to being persecuted by fear and rules and staying in one room with our storage – this prevented us from enjoying the new space. We have gotten used to living in a crowded space, but gradually we will overcome this trauma of wandering around without a stable and safe place. We know this affects our children’s behavior, their academic progress in school, and results in other health problems. Give our families more opportunities to live in stable and healthy housing.
