We Must All Have Faith in the Democratic Process to Validate Election Results

MEDA and the nation patiently await the democratic process to play itself out to validate the winner of the presidential and congressional elections. Every eligible voter should have their voice heard and their vote counted; a failure to do so would lead to the shameful disenfranchisement of millions of Americans. Both sides should neither concede nor declare victory until a clear winner is determined. Regardless of the victor, MEDA vows to continue to stand together with our longtime partners, funders and supporters to push for a change of tone from the top, with dignity restored to the office of the presidency and fair treatment of all of our neighbors. MEDA looks with hope toward a federal policy agenda that will combat the pandemic based on science, address the current COVID-19 emergency for people of color and, ultimately, combat the systemic inequities and white supremacy that caused the disproportionate negative health and economic impacts on our communities.

In solidarity,
