These partnerships enable resource sharing, coalitional advocacy and mutual aid, such that organizations across the CONTINUE TOUnited States have the resources, connections and know-how to help families build prosperity and communities flourish. Within a given community, local organizations work CONNECTtogether to avoid competition, align their resident services and establish common RESOURCES ANDstrategic agendas. Communities across the country are able to learn from each others innovation and share in each others successes toward building social equity nationwide.SHARE BEST PRACTICES.Why Does this Matter?Nonprofit organizations, especially those working on the ground in low-income PARTICIPANT, communities of color, fill an essential role in the social safety net. They channel public SHARING THE MODELand private resources into underserved neighborhoods, and as community-based CONVENING institutions they often have the social networks, cultural competency and trust among residents to best reach local families, workers and businesses. However, many nonprofits face their own structural challenges and asset gaps, as well as struggle to expand programming or build capacity on limited budgets. Because community-based organizations nationwide face parallel predicaments and rely on similar strengths, it is crucial that we share strategies and best practices toward our common goals of social equity, justice and community empowerment.MEDAs RoleWithin the national landscape of Latino-led and Latino-serving organizations, MEDA occupies a space of relative privilege and we feel an imperative to use that privilege for further good. We are a senior organization with established partnerships across the U.S.; we are rooted in a sanctuary city and a progressive region of the country; and our development strategies benefit from San Franciscos tech and finance capital, and robust philanthropic sector. These advantages have enabled MEDA to expand programming and innovate best practices in service delivery, program STEPS TO EQUITY implementation and community development. In turn, we have leveraged our standing to help organizations across the country build capacity, n# partner organizations consulted,sharing our best practices while preserving their strengths in working assisted or trainedn# partner organizations that: within their local communities. nObtain CDFI certification / are lending Staff from across MEDA have contributed to these skill-sharing efforts to clients during the past few years, under an initiative called Sharing the Model.See nAre directly engaged in one or moreGoing forward, we intend to build upon MEDAs technical assistancesidebaraffordable housing projects work by centralizing Sharing the Model within a singular, cohesive nEstablish or grow their integrated asset-building service delivery model program.
