Brighter Futures
After 52 years building economic power in the Mission, we’re just getting started
There is so much more to achieve, and we are driven to do it. As we navigate current challenges and plan for the future, our core values and track record of achievement illuminate our path forward.
Since 1973, the Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) has worked alongside Latino and working class families in San Francisco’s Mission District to build economic power that lasts—helping families buy homes, start businesses, advance their careers, and succeed in school. Today, as the Mission faces mounting pressures from rising costs and displacement, MEDA is charting a bold path forward—expanding affordable housing, growing community-owned businesses, advancing protective policies, and scaling proven solutions across San Francisco and beyond. Rooted in community voice and strengthened by decades of impact, we’re shaping the next chapter of the Mission’s story with the same commitment, creativity, and collective power that have defined our work for more than fifty years.
