2014 ANNUAL REPORT AVAILABLE ONLINE
The numbers tell the story: over 6,300 clients walked through the doors of Plaza Adelante in 2014, all to receive free asset-building services. This compares to 1,364 clients in 2010. Two-thirds of MEDA clients are immigrants looking to start their lives anew in thier adopted homeland, with 92 percent of our clients defined as low- to morderate-income.

A few other numbers showcasing impact:

  • 21 businesses started
  • 241 job placements
  • 1,195 positive financial outcomes
  • 3,831 tax returns prepared, with $5.5 million returned to the community

Huffington Post Simple Acts of Kindness video
MEDA Featured in Huffington Post "Simple Acts of Kindness" Video
Mission resident Zack Crockett started a GoFundMe account to help tenants who were victims of the catastrophic Mission and 22nd streets fire of January 28th. He hoped to get $2,000. After coming to MEDA for assistance, that number grew to a staggering $180,000! This compelled the Huffington Post to tell this inspiring story of community spirit.

MEDA Tax Team
Tax Team So Far Returns Over $4.5 Million to Low-Income Community
Things were buzzing this tax season at MEDA's Plaza Adelante and a trio of other VITA tax sites run by the organization. There were 4,079 clients who received services during the January 20th to April 15th tax season. These clients were also offered asset building services, as part of "Taxes Plus: Go Further with MEDA!" Many clients are slated to receive services throughout 2015.
