Technology Contractor - Hardware and IT Support

Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) is seeking contractors to provide instruction for our Mission Techie program on a part time basis.

MEDA’s Mission Techies

Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) – Rooted in the Mission and focused on San Francisco, MEDA’s mission is to strengthen low- and moderate-income Latino families by
promoting economic equity and social justice through asset building and community
development.

Mission Techies is a 12-week vocational training program open to all community members looking to build skills to get a job in tech, for free. The program trains on helpdesk, programming, and database management with wrap around services aimed at getting graduates gainful employment.

Position Summary

The Tech Instructor would work with the Mission Techies and Workforce Development program to deliver high quality instruction to our Mission Techies participants. Participants would be responsible for class-based instruction and supervision of hands-on activities. Participants would be disconnected youth from the community and adults looking to expand their career options.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct on one or more of the core competencies of the Mission Techies training program.
  • Supervise hands on learning activities and provide suggestions and assistance.
  • Coordinate schedules with MEDA staff and other instructors.
  • Attend corporate site visits to facilitate conversation and engagement from Mission Techies.
  • Track impact of curriculum and provide suggestions on improvements.

Core Competencies

Hardware & IT Support: Teach participants components of desktop and laptop computers. Provide supervision of activities focused on setting up computer labs and professional workspaces. Provide soft skills training for participants on how to troubleshoot tech devices for community members. Manage and run the internal ticketing system for the Mission Techies while teaching the participants about it.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal communication, presentation skills, and customer service
  • Interest in technology, especially networking as it relates to hardwire and wireless networking concepts
  • Spanish fluency required. Must be able to read and write in Spanish
  • Strong analytical and organization skills and high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Two years youth development experience
  • Commitment to MEDA’s mission of economic justice for Latino families in San Francisco
  • Interest in and/or experience working with communities of color required
  • Experience in personal financial education
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends

Scheduling

Available Hours: 10 – 30 hours (dependent on knowledge base)
Instruction Hours: 1PM – 5 PM (Monday-Friday)
Hours of instruction and monthly blocks are flexible and open to change dependent on contractor availability.
