AGENCY OVERVIEW

Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) – Rooted in the Mission and focused on San Francisco, MEDA’s mission is to strengthen low- and moderate-income Latino families by promoting economic equity and social justice through asset building and community development.

MEDA is advancing strategies to create asset building opportunities for San Francisco’s Latino families and in the Mission District through: (1) our core, integrated Asset Building Programs related to housing, financial capability and tax preparation, workforce development, and business development; (2) serving as a backbone agency to advance educational achievement and family economic success through the Mission Promise Neighborhood 2-generation approach; (3) creating and preserving affordable housing and commercial real estate in the Mission District through Community Real Estate; (4) providing access to capital and innovative financial products through the Adelante Fund; and (5) Policy & Advocacy efforts that support our mission.

Our direct service Asset Building programs serve over 7,000 individuals each year through education and coaching programs, including: financial capability, housing counseling (homeownership and rental), business development, workforce development, digital literacy, and free tax and ITIN preparation. We intentionally devote resources to research and evaluation, as well as community organizing and advocacy. In the process, MEDA is helping to develop best practices in the field and sharing these models locally, regionally, and nationally.

As of 2017, MEDA is a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). MEDA’s small business loan fund, Adelante Fund provides business capital to primarily Latino, immigrant, and women owned local businesses with an emphasis on job creation and place keeping.

MEDA is the backbone, lead agency of the Mission Promise Neighborhood, a neighborhood based effort to improve education and create family economic stability for in the Mission District through a cradle- to college- to career continuum of services. This initiative, funded through the Department of Education is a collective impact, 2-generation model that involves 26 community based organization partners, as well as City of San Francisco government agencies, the San Francisco Unified School District, and the Mayor’s Office of San Francisco as close collaborators in the implementation effort.

Through its Community Real Estate work, MEDA, an affordable housing developer, owns or manages 500 units of affordable housing in the Mission. MEDA is in the process of developing another 500 units to be completed by 2019.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Director of Asset Building Programs, the Integrated Services Manager will support department wide initiatives to design, implement, and evaluate MEDA’s direct service programs including financial capability, housing counseling (homeownership and rental), business development, workforce development, digital literacy, and free tax and ITIN preparation. The Integrated Services Manager will work closely with Director of Asset Building Programs and staff to continuously evaluate and develop effective and efficient processes and tools to implement programs and collect relevant data while supporting staff and clients in successfully achieving outcomes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Implementation and Service Integration

  • Under the direction of the Director of Asset Building Programs, provide data and evaluation oversight of programs including financial capability, housing counseling (homeownership and rental), business development, workforce development, digital literacy, and free tax and ITIN preparation.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate systems to collect and report data to inform program delivery and development.
  • Provide technical assistance to program teams to maintain program flow and improve results.
  • Coordinate communication and program design to promote and ensure integration between Asset Building Programs, Mission Promise Neighborhood, and Community Real Estate departments.
  • Monitor trends and best practices in the field of asset building and lead the work of implementing new initiatives to address the needs of the community and clientele MEDA serves.
  • Serve as the liaison for information exchange around policy and training for the Asset Building staff. Will service as point-of-contact on industry resources, and how to access and disseminate information.
  • Support community-wide collective impact initiatives across programs, such as Neighborhood Access Point Workforce network.
  • Project manage special projects, such as the SparkPoint initiative and supporting Sharing the Viva model

Program Data Management and Evaluation

  • Responsible for supporting coordination with managers and teams for timely and thorough data entry, Salesforce dashboard updates, and routine reporting. Integrated Services Manager may also be assigned ad hoc internal and external reporting by the Director including program dashboards, work plans, grants and coaching data analysis.
  • For new and modified program components, support implementation, development of indicators and outcomes, assist with curricula, and provide analysis of resources and capacity.
  • Assist in data collection and reporting for funder compliance.
  • Create data systems and associated trainings to assist in the monitoring and tracking of progress towards outcomes and results as outlined in annual work plans and grant contracts.
  • Monitor and report on work plan and coaching analysis data on programmatic goals and deliverables via Salesforce.
  • Provide data to inform connection between proposed outcomes, grants amounts and staff capacity.

Staff Management and Support

  • Assist in supporting a healthy work environment.
  • Assist in implementation of professional development initiatives and opportunities.
  • Assist in identifying gaps in staff training and capacity and help develop plans for addressing those gaps.
  • May assist the Director in observing and coaching staff toward the attainment of outcomes and results.

Fund Development

  • Support positive funder relationships, specifically providing data and preparing reports, timely and accurately.
  • Assist with agency fundraising efforts as requested.
  • Serve as primary funder contact for special projects as assigned.

Miscellaneous

  • Represent MEDA at local, regional, and national advocacy, training, and field events and conferences as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Program area expertise in two or more of MEDA’s core asset building direct services areas, integrated services experience strongly preferred;
  • Project management, including the ability to undertake several projects at once, by keeping track of project timelines, achieving desired outcomes and maintaining accountability of the various parties involved in the given project;
  • Strong technology acumen to successfully navigate Salesforce, Google applications, and grant databases;
  • Strong writing & editing and verbal communication skills;
  • Interpersonal skills that allows for the development of positive working relationship while maintaining strong supervision and accountability;
  • Experience and knowledge of coaching methodology.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; Master’s degree in nonprofit management, public policy, urban planning or related area a plus;
  • Excellent, demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of successfully supporting teams to achieve successful results;
  • In-depth knowledge of organizational development and management principles;
  • Excellent organization and analytical skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Able to help support a strong team environment;
  • Experience working with low-income, immigrant, and communities of color;
  • Commitment to MEDA’s mission and programs;
  • Desire for and commitment to personal professional development;
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
