Microentrepreneur Coach (through AmeriCorps EMC)

LISC AmeriCorps Economic Mobility Corps Micrentrepreneur Coach
Fondo Adelante CDFI at Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA)

Background

Fondo Adelante (Mission Community Loan Fund LLC) is a unique Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) loan fund founded by Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) in 2015. The Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) is a community-based, local economic development organization that, for over 45 years, has engaged individuals and small businesses in community-building strategies. Our mission is to achieve economic justice for San Francisco’s low and moderate-income Latino families through asset development.

Fondo Adelante makes small business loans to Latino and low-income microentrepreneurs, prioritizing San Francisco’s historic Mission District and the Latino immigrant community throughout the Bay Area. We have lent more than $10M to small businesses and provided 1:1 assistance to help small businesses access more than $6M in grants from the California Relief Fund, Restaurant Revitalization Fund, PPP, the SF Women’s Entrepreneurship Fund, and a large grant fund for undocumented micro-entrepreneurs.

Fondo’s Business Development Team is supported by the City of San Francisco’s Office of Employment and Workforce Development to be the lead organization providing Spanish-language coaching and workshops to small business owners citywide. Our innovative and community-focused Business Development Program provides a range of outreach, workshops, and 1:1 coaching in Spanish and English to help people successfully become self-employed and enables small businesses stabilize operations, stay in the Mission, market to increase clientele and revenue, create jobs, and grow. We do this through collaboration with the SF Latino Task Force Small Business Committee and the California Small Business Coalition for Racial Justice in lending, and active partnerships with other nonprofits and lenders regionwide.
