Your Career Opportunity

As Loan Fund Compliance Officer, you will be a part of a growing finance team that provides loans to small businesses in San Francisco and the surrounding region that are currently underserved by traditional lenders. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Fondo Adelante Director, you will also help us launch a real estate loan program to provide acquisition and rehabilitation financing to affordable housing developers in the Bay Area. With these two loan programs – small business and real estate – MEDA’s Fondo Adelante is providing capital necessary to stabilize and strengthen economically distressed neighborhoods, with a particular emphasis on communities of color.

This work is game-changing and will give the right candidate the opportunity to sustain strong and responsive financial solutions in San Francisco and the Bay area. Successful candidates will bring in their financial management and loan processing skills and experience to help our community grow and prosper.

Specifically, you will:

  • Prepare loans for closing, including ensuring all post-approval conditions have been met, perfecting collateral security, collaborating with legal counsel and title and escrow officers on loan documents, and requesting loan checks.
  • Collaborate with both Fondo Adelante’s and borrower’s construction managers to verify completion of construction work, and sign off on disbursement of loan funds for contractor payments during real estate rehabilitation projects.
  • Oversee monthly billing of borrowers, ACH repayment processing, payment collection follow-up, payoff of loans, and release of collateral security.
  • Perform other compliance tasks as the need arises. Different times of the year require different efforts. Tasks may include:
    • Reconciliations and schedules for audits, both from funders and from MEDA’s CPA auditor.
    • Program budgets during the annual budget preparation.
    • Actual versus budget variance analysis.
    • Other financial analysis as the need arises.

To perform successfully in this role, you will need to leverage these key qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business desirable but not required
  • Experience with real estate or affordable housing highly desirable
  • Spanish language a plus
  • Analytical ability; puzzle-solver; facility with quantitative reasoning.
