As the National Partnerships Program Manager, you will join a two-person team working to promote and share MEDA’s comprehensive place-based community economic development framework and programming with nonprofit partners serving low- and moderate-income communities across the United States. You will directly support MEDA’s National Partnerships Director in building the systems and structures to scale and expand our national network of partners. This role is designed to support the expansion of MEDA’s national presence as a nonprofit industry leader, setting the gold standard for place-based equitable community economic development.

Organization Description

Mission Economic Development Agency – Building on its 51-year history, and rooted in San Francisco’s Mission District, MEDA is advancing a national equity movement by building Latino prosperity, community ownership and civic power. Our direct service programs serve 16,000 individuals each year through rental and homeownership counseling, small business development, digital literacy, workforce development, financial education, and free tax preparation. We also devote resources to research and evaluation, community organizing and advocacy. In the process, MEDA is helping to develop best practices in the field and shares its model across the state and country.

Through MEDA’s Equitable Recovery Institute (ERI), we empower and advance a national network of organizations in creating equitable communities through cohort-based learning, convenings, and learning communities, in addition to tailored 1:1 technical assistance. As practitioners first, we bring unique expertise to the table to support our organizational partners in building capacity, implementing new programs, and enacting lasting, meaningful change in their communities.

YOUR CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Duties & Responsibilities

As a collaborative self-starter, you will partner with the National Partnerships Director to shape the portfolio of work and the overall trajectory of MEDA’s national presence as an industry leader. To start, we envision this role to include the following core functions:

  • In partnership with MEDA subject matter experts, create, organize and redesign content/curricula for technical assistance and training opportunities.
  • Deliver training sessions for ERI nonprofit partners on a variety of topics related to MEDA’s programming, services, and best practices.
  • Design and structure technical assistance and training engagements, and manage logistics between MEDA team members, partner organizations and other stakeholders
  • Provide administrative support for the team, including planning, scheduling and facilitating internal meetings, generating and processing invoices, reports, and leading external engagement planning/logistics.
  • Develop new partner engagements through outreach, education, networking, and sharing the work of MEDA/ERI in conferences, events, and other spaces.
  • Act as a liaison between partner organizations and MEDA subject matter experts, ensuring that the TA engagement is well defined and structured and that each participant has the information, materials and tools they need for a successful partnership
  • Project manage proposals for funding and speaking opportunities, including collaborating with MEDA’s Development team, finance team, and other team members as applicable.
  • Monitor proposal guidelines and deadlines to ensure timely and complete submissions.
  • Complete reports on outcomes achieved through ERI’s contracts and grants.
  • Conduct research and practitioner literature reviews to help MEDA stay abreast of best and emerging practices.
  • Occasional travel to conferences or practitioner training is required for this position.

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong facilitation and project management skills
  • Proven experience in project management and events planning
  • Experience working across departments to manage roles, responsibilities and timelines, and holding accountable multiple teams and partner organizations for common goals
  • Demonstrated commitment to socioeconomic equity for low-income, immigrant communities of color
  • High degree of independence, initiative, responsibility, and accountability
  • A relationship builder who thrives in creating, building, and sustaining relationships with partners, funders and stakeholders
  • Strong subject matter knowledge in one or more of the following areas is desired: community & economic development, affordable housing, collective impact, education, cradle-to-career, social determinants of health
  • Ability to effectively collect, analyze, organize, distill, and present information
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize while working to meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and also collaborate as a team player
  • 3+ years of professional experience, preferably in a nonprofit or philanthropic environment
  • Spanish language proficiency is not required but is a plusR MEDA EXPERIENCE
