Annual Report 2012

LuisHeadshotNew¡Saludos!

I am proud to share this report on MEDA’s 2012 accomplishments. In 2012, MEDA experienced its most successful year ever as it continues to achieve economic justice for families throughout San Francisco and neighboring Bay Area counties. MEDA served nearly 5,000 individuals this past year through innovative and impactful programs that helped low-income, Latino, Spanish-speaking families start thriving businesses, achieve and protect sustainable homeownership, harness the power of technology, and achieve financial stability. Increasingly, MEDA is achieving results by refining our systems and leveraging community resources through service integration. As our integrated service model continues to help families improve credit, debt, savings, and income, we are leveraging the model to connect academic achievement to family economic success. After an intensive community-wide planning process, in December 2012 MEDA was awarded a 5-year, $30 million grant from the US Department of Education to implement the Mission Promise Neighborhood. The Mission Promise Neighborhood is a groundbreaking collaborative effort between MEDA (as lead agency), the City & County of San Francisco, San Francisco Unified School District, colleges and universities, and 26 nonprofit service providers to integrate a continuum of cradle -to college -to career services that will improve academic achievement and family economic success for students and families of Mission District public schools. At MEDA, we pride ourselves in pushing the envelope and doing more than what was thought possible. Moving forward, we believe the result of these efforts will not only be that our programs are more effective, and that our families are more financially successful, but also that we will work together with our partners in new and different ways that help us better achieve our common goals. On behalf of our board and staff, we thank you for your support andlook forward to what we can achieve together in 2013.

Sincerely,

Luis Granados Executive Director
