“I know all of our guests will have a memorable night as we celebrate MEDA’s accomplishments — accomplishments that could not be done without a community of support. This party is for everyone,” explains Development Officer – Special Projects Noris Chavarría of why he has been busy planning ¡VIVA MEDA! for months. With special attention to detail and a history of being the consummate host, Chavarría is guaranteeing a good time for his 300 guests.
The ¡VIVA MEDA! annual gala is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The venue is the spectacular San Francisco Design Center. When Chavarría initially toured this space, he immediately knew it was the perfect spot for such an event.
And what an event it will be, with well-deserving honorees receiving awards, a great meal, an open bar and a dance party. The latter is renowned, as at a MEDA gala everyone gets pulled onto the dance floor by the rhythmic beats of salsa. Those salsa beats will be complemented by the always-popular sounds of a mariachi band.
Guests’ tastebuds will be dancing, too, sure to be delighted by the flavors of everything from tostones and chipotle shrimp tostaditos as hors d’oeuvres to slow-cooked beef short ribs and grilled chicken breasts as entrees. Everyone will need to save some room for their dessert of buttermilk panna cotta with plum.
Honorees will include Janis Bowdler of JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Sam Ruiz of Mission Neighborhood Centers, both community innovators in their own right. There will also be an “Employee of the Year” award (a tough decision with MEDA’s dedicated staff!), along with “Family of the Year” and “Rising Leader” awards for clients. All well deserved.
Oh, and did we mention the photobooth? Always a hit, a photobooth will be set up so memories of the night can be captured.
So don your finest outfit — one that you can also dance in — and we’ll see you at ¡VIVA MEDA! on Oct. 12. It’ll definitely be the best party in San Francisco on a Wednesday night.
