El Mercadito in the SF Chronicle

Raju and Simmi Kumar, the newest vendors in Plaza Adelante’s El Mercadito micro-enterprise is featured in an article of the SF Chronicle about the rising cost living in San Francisco and the opportunity El Mercadito provides them to increase their income through entrepreneurship.

A business incubator and technical assistance program for low-and moderate-income Latino microentrepreneurs, offering the opportunity to establish and develop family-owned businesses in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District. El Mercadito at Plaza Adelante officially opened the doors of its 1,800 square foot Mission Street retail space on October 28th, 2010. Housing 14 businesses, El Mercadito provides affordable space and asset building opportunities that create jobs and improve our community’s economic well-being.
