Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) – Rooted in the Mission and focused on San Francisco, MEDA’s mission is to strengthen low- and moderate-income Latino families by promoting economic equity and social justice through asset building and community development.

MEDA is advancing strategies to create asset building opportunities for San Francisco’s Latino families and in the Mission District through: (1) our core, integrated Asset Building Programs related to housing, financial capability, workforce development, business development and tax preparation; (2) serving as a backbone agency to advance educational achievement and family economic success through the Mission Promise Neighborhood 2-generation approach; (3) creating and preserving affordable housing and commercial real estate in the Mission District through Community Real Estate; (4) providing access to capital and innovative financial products through the Adelante Fund; and (5) Policy & Advocacy efforts that support our mission.


Reporting to the Workforce Development Program Manager, the Workforce Technology Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating technology-based training for adults from the ages of 18 and older within MEDA’s workforce program. This position will support the design, development, and implementation of the technology-based workforce development-training program (Mission Techies) serving Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act eligible program participants. The Mission Techies program provides hardware, software, coding, and database training. In addition, Techies receive job readiness and financial coaching. The program’s purpose is to link computer technology training program participants to jobs, assist them and employers retain those jobs, and support them in pursuing career advancement opportunities. The Workforce Technology Coordinator will be the day-to-day point person for the computer labs and will assist and advise in planning programming, outreach, and outcomes reporting on both the technology training and workforce development/job placement aspects of the program.
Workforce Technology Coordinator will carry a caseload of 40-60 providing both job and financial capability coaching. Workforce Technology Coordinator is expected to attend Office of the Mayor’s Economic and Workforce Development, program funding, and collaborating partner meetings. Workforce Technology Coordinator is expected to travel overnight, to attend funder, program and staff development conferences.


Program Development and Management

  • Support the technology workforce development-based, technology training program that produces real job placement and retention outcomes, and post-secondary education attainment outcomes.
  • Work with existing staff to identify best practices and evidence-based approaches that can be incorporated into the program.
  • Strategically support development of programs and services that integrate technology into existing direct services to adults defined by Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act as high priority (Dislocated Workers, Formerly Incarcerated, Homeless Individuals, People with Disabilities, Individuals with limited English Proficiency, Veterans, and low income families) at Plaza Adelante.
  • Coordinate with other staff to continually meet the workforce training needs of local employers and organizations. Continually innovate, and design training to insure clients effectively secure and retain employment opportunities for clients.
  • Take ownership of training programs and be point person for partners and staff.
  • Assist with the integration of technology training in the service delivery at Plaza Adelante.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of Plaza Adelante’s Tech Training center, including computer technology classes, drop-in Open Lab, and other technology based trainings held by the Plaza Adelante partners, and revenue generating opportunities, including supervision of instructors and other staff.
  • Provide job coaching and financial coaching, including job placement and retention support
  • Serve as proctor for certification exams
  • Create schedule for training
  • Plan and coordinate outreach activities, including outreach events, creation of flyers, and telephone recruiting.
  • Represent Plaza Adelante Computer Training Center in community meetings, outreach events, and funder meetings.


  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
  • 3 years’ experience in technology related settings
  • 3 years’ experience working with Workforce Investment Act, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, or CaJOBs funded workforce development programs
  • Skilled in partner relationship management; ability to maintain relationships on behalf of organization
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills to diverse audiences, including participants, instructors, funders, etc.
  • Experience with and commitment to working with low- to moderate-income entrepreneurs, professional or personal experience working with communities of color required
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish required
